Politico Influence: TWITTER LOBBYIST (McCrimmon) MOVES TO GOOGLE

“As scrutiny of the platform ratchets up on the Hill, Twitter will be down one of its in-house lobbyists. Reggie McCrimmon, a public policy manager at the company for nearly three years, has joined Google as a government affairs and public policy manager for Google Play focused on content and safety.

— McCrimmon, who’s also a Congressional Black Caucus and G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) alum, said in an interview that while his role will continue to consist of coalition building and looking for allies in Washington, a big part of the role will include working with product teams to relay intel, “helping them understand regulatory threats and the best way to make sure that we are putting our best foot forward.” He added that he loved working at Twitter, but that he was eager to hone a different area of expertise.”

Leaving the Nest

I’m moving on from my role at Twitter.

I’ve grown so much. The past nearly 3 years have been amazing, eventful😇 challenging and rewarding. That’s exactly how I like it. 💪🏽

I love Twitter and LOVED working @Twitter even more.  When I left Congress 5 years ago, I stepped out on a conviction to take all of my life experience and leverage it to empower the work of great leaders and risk takers in industries that inspire me.

As a Tweep, I worked with some of the most passionate and skillful global public policy and philanthropy pros of all time. They are wicked smart, scrappy, principled and fun. I’m better because of them. ❤️

I’m hyped about the future. I’m looking forward to my next stop on this journey at the intersection of tech & public policy.

Roll Call: Congressional Black Associates Professionally Develop Through Giving Back to D.C.

As Reggie McCrimmon finishes up his term as president of the Congressional Black Associates, he finds his focus has shifted.

When McCrimmon took over the CBA — a bipartisan, bicameral staff association that is the oldest on Capitol Hill — he knew the importance of staff associations in helping with personal development, but his members showed him a different way to do that.
